Zebra Blinds in Miami – Residential Project
A real Miami residential project featuring custom manual zebra blinds with alternating sheer and solid fabric bands for adjustable daylight and privacy.

Project overview
This real completed project is a custom manual zebra blinds installation in a Miami, FL residential house. The photographs document the finished shades in both filtered-light and more private positions.
The installed zebra shades use alternating sheer and solid bands. Their alignment can be adjusted with the manual side chain, changing how much daylight passes through while giving the windows a consistent modern finish.
Why zebra blinds for this installation
Zebra shades suit residential interiors where light and privacy needs change throughout the day. Aligning the sheer sections filters incoming light; overlapping the solid sections increases privacy without requiring a separate window treatment.
The horizontal bands also create a clean, structured appearance while preserving practical control over the window.
Zebra shades (also called dual-layer or banded shades) are built from a single fabric with alternating sheer and solid horizontal bands. Rolling the fabric a few centimetres shifts the bands in or out of alignment, so the same shade moves from an open view-through position to a closed privacy position without being raised or lowered.
That makes them a practical choice where daylight changes through the day: the sheer bands soften glare while keeping the window readable, and the solid bands close the opening when privacy matters more than the view.
Control and operation
This installation is manual. A side chain adjusts the shade and the alignment of its alternating fabric bands; no motorization or smart-home controls are part of this project.
Manual chain operation keeps the mechanism simple: the shade is positioned by hand at the window and holds wherever it is set, with no power source and nothing to charge or pair.
