Five Motorized Zebra Blinds in a Fort Lauderdale Home

A five-shade motorized zebra installation with smart-home connectivity in a Fort Lauderdale house, documented from uncovered bedroom windows to the finished room.

Project overview

Miami Smart Blinds installed five motorized zebra blinds in this Fort Lauderdale home and connected them to the home's smart-home system. The photographed bedroom brings together window openings and a sliding glass door, with matching layered shades across the room.

The installation-day photograph shows the bare glass, blue preparation tape and access ladders. The completed photograph shows the same bedroom furnished with a four-poster bed and four visible zebra shades. That room-wide comparison documents the change without suggesting that all five installed shades appear in one photograph.

The challenge at this property

The bedroom has openings of different widths and heights around adjacent walls. The preparation view shows the sliding glass door between the windows; the finished room shows how the zebra treatments fit into that layout around the bed.

Why zebra blinds for this installation

Matching zebra blinds give the broad door opening and smaller windows a consistent horizontal fabric pattern. The closer photographs show the alternating opaque and sheer bands, along with the light-coloured headrails and bottom bars.

Zebra shades (also called dual-layer or banded shades) are built from a single fabric with alternating sheer and solid horizontal bands. Rolling the fabric a few centimetres shifts the bands in or out of alignment, so the same shade moves from an open view-through position to a closed privacy position without being raised or lowered.

That makes them a practical choice where daylight changes through the day: the sheer bands soften glare while keeping the window readable, and the solid bands close the opening when privacy matters more than the view.

Motorization and control

All five blinds in this installation are motorized and connected to the home's smart-home system. The connection is part of the confirmed project scope; no specific motor brand, app, voice assistant or automation platform is identified for this case study.

A motorized shade is raised and lowered by a tubular motor inside the roller tube instead of a chain or cord. Because there is nothing to reach for, motorization is the practical answer on openings that sit above head height or behind furniture.

Fabric, colour and finish

The light-coloured shade fabric sits against pale walls and marble-patterned flooring. Wide and narrow openings use the same layered appearance, while the separate recessed-window photograph shows the headrail and side profiles in closer detail.
