Blinds and Shades Installation
Installation is where a custom order either becomes a finished room or becomes a list of small annoyances. This is what a professional window shade installation actually involves, step by step, so you know what should happen on the day.
Before anything is drilled
- Every unit is checked against the measured specification — width, drop, fabric, control side and mount type
- Any discrepancy is identified before installation rather than discovered halfway through
- The room is protected and the working area cleared around each opening
Confirming the mount
The mount was decided at the measure, but it is re-confirmed at the window. Depth, obstructions and the mounting surface are checked again, because a handle nobody noted or a hollow section of trim changes the fixing plan.
Mounting surfaces and fixings
Fixings are chosen for what is actually behind the surface — timber, masonry, hollow drywall or metal frame each need a different anchor. Getting this wrong is the most common reason a shade sags months later, so it is not a place to improvise.
Bracket and headrail placement
- Bracket positions are marked from a single reference line, not measured independently at each end
- Clearance is verified against trim, handles, sills and any adjacent shade
- On grouped runs, headrails are set to one continuous line across the wall
Levelling and alignment
A shade that is out of level will track to one side and will show a tapering gap at the bottom. Every headrail is levelled independently of the window, because the window itself is frequently not level.
Across a run, bottom rails are checked against each other so they stop on the same line.
Motorized setup
- Upper and lower limits programmed per shade
- Shades assigned to remotes, channels and groups
- Rooms and scenes named so the system makes sense to use
- App and voice control set up and tested where the system supports it
Operation testing and final inspection
Every shade is run through its full travel, checked for tracking, and operated with you so you have used it before we leave. Fabric alignment, fold dressing and band alignment are corrected on the spot.
We take away the packaging, walk the rooms with you and confirm you are happy with each opening.
Schedule measurement and installation
DIY measurements are useful for planning and preliminary estimates. Final measurements for custom-made window treatments should be verified professionally before production. Our in-home measure is free across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties — up to 100 miles around Miami.
Frequently asked questions
How long does installation take?
It depends on the number of openings and whether the shades are motorized. Most homes are completed in a single visit, and we confirm the expected duration when the installation is scheduled.
Do I need to be home?
Yes, at least at the start and the end. We walk the rooms with you beforehand and demonstrate the finished shades before leaving.
Who installs the shades?
Our own installers. The same company measures, specifies and installs, which is what stops details being lost between a retailer and a subcontractor.
